DOTr says MRT-7 and common station will be open by 2027

The MRT-7, which would start in North Avenue in Quezon City and end in San Jose Del Monte in Bulacan, is expected to be open in 2027.

Department of Transportation Sec. Vince Dizon on June 3 said the opening of the common station for LRT-1, MRT-3, and MRT-7 will also coincide with the planned start of operations of MRT-7.

The secretary recalled his conversation with Ramon Ang, the chairman and chief executive officer of San Miguel Corporation, MRT-7's developer, who committed to finishing the station by 2027.

Dizon determined that the full line will be fully operational by 2029.

The MRT-7 opening has been delayed several times, with the SMC citing mostly right-of-way issues.

In 2024, the DOTr said the MRT-7 will be operational by the last quarter of 2025. But last April, the SMC said it's by 2026.

Dizon noted that they're trying to find a new contractor to fulfill the timeline.
