The Land Transportation Office has suspended the license of a Transportation Network Vehicle Service driver who allegedly threatened passengers with a knife over a misunderstanding.

In a viral TikTok video posted by user pookieyings on July 14, the passengers got into an argument with the InDrive driver over the pinned drop-off location.

"'Di lahat ng driver alam 'yan," the driver can be heard saying in the clip as the female passenger explained her side. Her boyfriend then called out the driver for supposedly cursing at them.

"Bakit po kayo nag-aano sa'kin, kaya nga po may maps kayo," the passenger said. "Nagkamali lang naman... 'Wag ka naman magsasalita ng 'gunggong,'" her boyfriend added.

The user then claimed the driver dropped them off at a mall and threatened them with a knife after they disembarked.

"Inambahan kami tapos bumalik siya may dalang pang [saksak], tapos bumalik siya sa loob ng sasakyan at umalis," she wrote.

'Unacceptable behavior'

In a news release, LTO Chief Atty. Greg Pua Jr. called the driver's behavior "unacceptable and needed immediate action."

"Maling propesyon ang napasukan ng driver na ito. Hindi hanapbuhay ang hanap nito kundi basag ulo at asunto," he said.

The Department of Transportation has also issued a show cause order to the InDrive driver.

The driver also faces charges of Reckless Driving under Sec. 28 and being an Improper Person to Operate a Motor Vehicle under Sec. 27(a) of R.A. 4136 or the Land Transportation and Traffic Code.

His license has been placed under a 90-day suspension and the vehicle has been placed under alarm.

Moreover, the registered owner of the vehicle has also been asked to explain why she should not be held liable for employing a reckless driver under Paragraph 7, Title IV of DOTC Joint Administrative Order No. 2014-01.
