Weekend hangs: Concerts, cosplay, and more events to check out this June 7-8

The first week of the mid-year is almost done; after a week of chasing deadlines and fulfilling your duties either at home, school, or work, you deserve to treat yourself with a nice weekend activity for making it through.

If you're wondering about the latest happenings in the metro, there are concerts and gatherings for both OPM and anime fans. Here are the events you shouldn't miss this weekend. 

June 7: Anisama World Anime Music Festival

Attention, anime fans! Be part of Anisama World, Japan's biggest anime music festival, happening on June 7, 7 p.m. at New Frontier Theater.

Catch the Japanese band Ash Da Hero, known for their song Judgement and Octave for the anime series Blue Lock; Singer MindaRyn, who sang Like Flames in the anime series That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime; rock band Flow known for their opening songs for Naruto series; and Ave Mujica, among others.

Tickets are still available at TicketNet outlets and online. Prices range from P2,100 for general admission seats to P10,600 for VIP Standing. All ticketholders are entitled to a random photocard of any artist included in the lineup. Check more details here

June 7: Break the Silence Music Festival 

Here's a concert to enjoy, OPM fans! Break the Silence, a benefit music festival, is happening on June 7 at Parklinks Avenue, Pasig City.

The star-studded lineup includes Juan Karlos, Zack Tabudlo, December Avenue, Syd Hartha, Over October, and Armi Millare. Apart from celebrating OPM, the event presents itself as a "movement." Proceeds will go to ABS-CBN Foundation, Stairway Foundation, which aims to protect children from abuse and exploitation, and My Children’s House of Hope. 

Tickets are priced at P2,499 for a standard pass to P4,000 for a premium pass. 

June 7-8: Mighty to Save Tour

Join a night of worship at the Mighty to Save tour happening on June 7 and 8 at SM Mall of Asia Arena. The concert will feature singers Reuben Morgan, Ben Fielding, and Aodhan King, with Hillsong Worship music like What a Beautiful Name, I Give You My Heart, Sinking Deep, and more.

June 6-8: Pinoy Pop Karaoke Challenge at SM Supermalls

Unleash your singing skills and win exciting prizes at the karaoke challenge at any SM Mall near you this weekend. The challenge is open to all aspiring and amateur Filipino singers aged 18 to 50 years old. 

June 7-8: Cosplay Camp at Festival Mall

Bring your favorite anime character to life, or simply marvel at cosplayers at the Cosplay Camp taking place on the third floor, east wing, Festival Mall this weekend.

Join exciting activities and fun games like Magic: The Gathering, Conquest by Para Bellum, Halo: Flashpoint by Mantic, Firefight by Mantic, and Marvel: Crisis Protocol by Atomic Mass Games.

The event is free and open to everyone. No prior registration is required.

June 6-8: Komiket Pride

It's an early Pride celebration! Arts organization Komiket is kicking off the first week of its Komiket Pride 2025, happening at Ayala Malls the 30th.

The first leg of the event, featuring three areas of exhibitors, is open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Entrance is free and you get to support local queer art.

June 7-8: Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban in Concert

Calling all witches, wizards, and muggles! The third movie in the beloved Harry Potter franchise is getting the concert treatment.

On June 7 and 8, you can catch Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban in Concert with Filipino conductor and composer Gerard Salonga leading the 96-piece Filkharmonika Orchestra and the 48-piece Philippine Madrigal Singers bringing the film's music to life.

Tickets to the show, happening at The Theatre at Solaire, are available via Ticketworld.com.ph. Prices range from P2,499 (Zone E) to P7,499 (Zone A).
