AirAsia opens cabin crew jobs to SHS grads—here's how to apply

Ever dreamed of becoming a cabin crew member? This is your chance.

AirAsia Philippines is changing the game for aspiring cabin crew members by introducing an "inclusive" and "cost-effective" recruitment process.

In a press release, the airline said that while they encourage college graduates, they will now accept Senior High School graduates.

Applicants no longer need to wear a formal uniform with full makeup. The new dress code allows men to come in a white t-shirt, jeans, and casual rubber shoes, while women can wear a white shirt, a denim skirt, and heels.

"Cabin crew aspirants will immerse themselves in a more realistic work environment, setting aside the usual runway screening with a more service and guest-oriented approach during the selection process," the airline said.

The process also gives applicants a glimpse into the airline's culture, offering them a look at what a "day in the life in the skies" is like.

"We are reimagining the way we do our recruitment process to focus more on the essentials-talent, attitude, and skills needed to become a successful cabin crew," AirAsia Philippines Chief Executive Officer Suresh Bangah noted.

Once the candidate has been screened, they will be asked to come in for an interview and assessment, including a background check.

Aspiring cabin crew members are required to bring an updated curriculum vitae or resume and a recent non-AI-generated photo.

Other requirements include having a clear complexion with no visible blemishes, scars, or tattoos while in uniform. Candidates must also have no braces and be "free from visible damage, decay, or severe crookedness" in their teeth.

The minimum height for female applicants is 160 cm or 5'2", while for males it is 170 cm or 5'5". They are also required to meet a Body Mass Index of 18.5–22 and 18.5–23, respectively.

Meanwhile, technical, soft skills, and competencies are also required. These include a strong understanding of cabin safety procedures and regulatory requirements, the ability to perform safety inspections, equipment checks, and emergency response procedures, exceptional customer service and conflict resolution skills, strong attention to detail with a commitment to upholding safety and service standards, to name a few.

AirAsia is accepting applications from Aug. 20 to 29, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

AirAsia has been the World's Best Low-Cost Airline for 14 consecutive years, with over 800 million guests flown. According to its website, they champion "dream, serve the underserved, and connect the world and Asean."
