K-pop idol Jaehyun dies at 23
Shim Jaehyun, a K-pop singer who was part of boy group F.ABLE, has died aged 23.
Korean entertainment outlets like Koreaboo and Allkpop reported that he passed away in late June.
Hojun, who was Jaehyun's co-member in the band, posted about the latter's death, saying that he "heard the news too late."
"I’m so sorry I couldn’t be there for your last journey. I sometimes think about how I could have done better, and it’s regretful. I hope you can shake off all your worries and live comfortably there," he wrote in an Instagram story in Korean, as translated into English by Koreaboo.
Hojun thanked Jaehyun for the times they spent together. "Thank you for the past five years. I hope you’re eating lots of delicious food and doing well there. Come visit me in my dreams," he continued.
According to Allkpop, Jaehyun died after a private battle with leukemia.
F.ABLE debuted under Haeirum Entertainment in June 2020 with five members: Jaehyun, Hojun, Sihoon, Junhyoung, and Jeong.
The group became known for the songs Burn It Up and Run Run Run before they disbanded in 2023.
