Person finds dead man in home they were planning to buy

A person discovered the body of a man who had been dead “for quite a while” while touring a home they were planning to purchase.

The Iredell County Sheriff’s Office confirmed to PEOPLE Magazine that the potential homebuyer found the human remains in a property in Statesville in North Carolina, US.

According to the report, authorities were alerted via a 911 call as soon as the person saw the deceased individual in the home's driveway. After a thorough check, they confirmed that the remains belonged to a human. 

It looked like he “had been deceased for quite a while” when his body was discovered, Major Troy Miller of the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office told CBS affiliate WBTV. 

Investigators were unable to identify the dead man at the time “because of the state of decomposition,” per PEOPLE Magazine.

But two days later, he was identified as 50-year-old Kevin Queen. It’s believed that he died of natural causes, authorities said.

Further information on the matter has yet to be disclosed.
