Woman finally agrees to marry man after 43 rejections in 7 years
A woman finally said "yes" to a man after a total of 43 marriage proposals in seven years.
According to a report by The Sun, Luke Wintrip had been wanting to marry Sarah Wintrip since 2018. He was met with a prompt rejection when he first popped the question to her just six months into their relationship.
"I just said, 'No, we've only been together for six months!'" she recalled. "I loved him, but I didn't want to say 'yes' to something I would later retract."
Luke continued to propose to her in the coming years. His marriage proposals included a castle rental in Prague, arranged candlelit dinners, and even a horseback-riding excursion on a Jamaican beach.
As the years and proposals mounted, Sarah thought that her answer might soon change. During Luke's 42nd attempt, she promised him, "Next time you ask, I'm going to say 'yes,' but just you wait."
After another year, Luke finally got her sweet "yes" in his 43rd try. He took Sarah to Greenwich in South East London, the home of the Greenwich Mean Time or "the yearly average (or 'mean') of the time each day when the Sun crosses the Prime Meridian at the Royal Observatory Greenwich."
He recalled asking her, "This is the center of the world, and you are the center of my world... and I want you to marry me."
"He finally won my heart," Sarah said, joking that Luke "should probably get a Guinness World Record" for how many times he asked for her hand in marriage. "I am grateful he persisted for so long," she added.
Sarah and Luke exhanged "I dos" in a destination wedding in Jamaica in May.
"Mr. and Mrs. Wintrip. Finally. Let’s hope we really can commit to those ‘better and worse’ vows after the rocky start we have had. I love you, babe," Sarah said in an Instagram post as she shared their wedding photos.
