'Running Man' star Kim Jong Kook announces marriage
Running Man star Kim Jong Kook is getting married, which will take place in private with close friends and family at a location in Seoul.
According to a source from his agency, TURBO.JK COMPANY, the announcement is timely for the actor's 30th debut anniversary.
"It's even more meaningful to make this new start in the significant year of his 30th debut anniversary. It would be great if many people could send warm support and congratulate him," the agency wrote in a statement, obtained by the K-entertainment website, Soompi.
The outlet also shared a transcription of Jong Kook's handwritten letter, stating that the Family Outing host is "even more nervous than I could have ever imagined" as he wrote the letter.
"I'm getting married. Honestly, I tried to drop small hints here and there… but I'm sure there are many people who feel as if this came suddenly," he wrote.
According to the South Korean star, instead of releasing the album, he wanted to celebrate his 30th debut anniversary with his other half.
"It's very late, but it's such a relief I'm going like this.. Right? I will work hard to live well."
Jong Kook also revealed that the wedding will "take place sometime soon on a scale that is not too big" with his nearest and dearest, such as family members, close friends, and a few acquaintances.
Nonetheless, he is grateful for the fans who have been his "greatest strength" for such a long time, especially now that he is "getting married and taking on a new challenge in life again."
"I will continue to work harder and live diligently as Kim Jong Kook," he concluded.
Jong Kook is a South Korean singer, entertainer, and actor who debuted as a member of the South Korean duo Turbo in 1995. They were disbanded in 2000. As a soloist, Jong Kook released his debut solo album, Renaissance, in December 2001.
