What we know so far about Taylor Swift’s engagement ring
Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce announced that they're taking their relationship to the next level, giving a close look at her eye-catching engagement ring.
"Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married," Swift and Kelce said in the caption of their collaborative Instagram post on Wednesday, Aug. 27.
The IG carousel included photos of Kelce bringing Swift's Love Story to reality, including a close-up of her cushion-cut diamond.
According to American outlets, including PEOPLE Magazine and USA Today, Kelce worked with jewelry designer Kindred Lubeck of the New York-based Artifex Fine Jewelry for the ring's design.
The item is an Old Mine Brilliant Cut diamond ring on a gold band.
Hannah Florman, a jeweler specializing in high-end engagement rings, said the diamond could be around 8 carats, according to PEOPLE. (Carat is a unit of weight in which 1 carat is equal to 200mg. In the United States, the average engagement ring is between 0.5 and 1 carat.)
"High-color antiques are extremely rare," Florman is quoted as saying. "Because of the technology available at the time, stones were often cut in a way that resulted in a lower color grade than what you see here, so I imagine sourcing this quality and size of stone led to an inflated cost."
Ann Grimmett of Jared Jewelers said it could be anywhere between 7 and 9 carats.
"The side stones look to be a half-moon plus a small round, which contribute to its more vintage look," Grimmett said.

Brides, an online magazine focusing on wedding content, reported that Estate Diamond Jewelry's Benjamin Khordipour thinks the style of the ring "is definitely a throwback to the Victorian Era, with the beautiful delicate and decorative gold work."
"The ring was handcrafted in 18k yellow gold and the center diamond is set with needle point prongs that perfectly match the antique style," Khordipour said. "Smaller diamonds and hand-engravings adorn the shoulders of her setting."
As for the price of the engagement ring, Swift or Kelce haven't publicly commented on it, but the experts believe it has quite the price tag.
For Grimmett, it could be as low as $250,000 (P14 million) and as high as $500,000 (P28.5 million).
Khordipour said the ring is likely around $550,000 (P31.3 million).
According to Neil Dutta of Angelic Diamonds, however, the ring could be worth $1.2 million (P68.3 million) to $1.5 million (P85.4 million).
Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's love story
Swift and Kelce started dating in 2023 after the singer performed at Arrowhead Stadium—home of Kelce's Chiefs. He explained on the New Heights podcast at the time that he was disappointed he did not have a chance to meet her and give her his phone number at the show.
Swift said she was charmed by the public declaration of interest. The gesture made her feel like she was "in an '80s John Hughes movie, and he was just like, standing outside of my window with a boombox and being like, 'I want to date you,'" she said on the episode.
She said she thought, "If this guy isn't crazy, which is a big if, this is sort of what I've been writing songs about wanting to happen to me since I was a teenager."
Their relationship became public when she appeared at a Chiefs game to cheer on Kelce in September 2023.
"We actually had a significant amount of time that no one knew, which I’m grateful for, because we got to get to know each other," Swift told Time in 2023, when the magazine named her Person of the Year. "By the time I went to that first game, we were a couple."
The singer appeared at several Chiefs games, including two Super Bowls, and sparked some criticism from NFL fans that TV networks showed her on camera too often and drew attention away from the game.
Kelce attended many stops on Swift's record-setting Eras Tour, which grossed more than $2 billion before concluding in December 2024. At a show in London, Kelce surprised the crowd by taking the stage briefly in a tuxedo and top hat and carrying Swift to a couch during I Can Do It With a Broken Heart.
Swift this month announced her upcoming album, The Life of a Showgirl, on New Heights, which Kelce hosts with his brother, former NFL player Jason Kelce.
The Shake It Off and Blank Space singer has often written songs about relationship troubles.
She said her upcoming Showgirl album, set for release on Oct. 3, will be joyful because "life is more upbeat."
Kelce will start his 13th regular season with the Chiefs in September. (with reports from Lisa Richwine, Reuters)
