TRENDING: What is the 'Tayo ay nasa fine dining restaurant' trend and how did it start?
How do you behave in a fine dining restaurant?
If you've been spending a significant amount of time online, chances are you've come across the line "Tayo ay nasa fine dining restaurant."
Several social media users have used it in different ways—from dubbing the entire thing with some drama and putting a beat over it to completely translating it to other languages and dialects.
Even Filipino stars like Vice Ganda, drag queen Marina Summers, P-pop group ALAMAT, as well as content creators Davao Conyo and Macoy Dubs have joined in the fun on television and social media.
What's the trend about and how did it become viral?
How it started
The viral scene came from an episode of the third season of vlogger Toni Fowler's online reality show ToRo Family. While it was posted on her YouTube channel in August 2024, it started making the rounds online in recent weeks after it was reuploaded on different platforms and used by familiar faces online.
In the video, Toni angrily called out Micaela Marcelo, better known as Mikay, for her attitude in gatherings, including her alleged inappropriate behavior during their dinner with plastic surgeon Dr. Eric Yapjuangco, or Doc Yappy, and his wife, Vina Yapjuangco, in a fine dining restaurant.

She mentioned the time Mikay was reaching for a biscuit from Papi Galang, which then fell off her hand. "Tayo ay nasa fine dining restaurant, 'di ba, so 'yung pagka-iskwater natin, iwan natin sa bahay," Toni said.
"Pagkalaglag, nandoon sina Ms. Vina, sina Doc Yappy. Imbis na 'Ay, sorry, sorry,' anong naging reaksiyon? 'Put*ng-*** nito! Nagbibigay lang, ganiyan pa eh,'" she recalled. "Nasa restaurant ka naman na sosyal. Kailan mo 'ko narinig na naggagaganun ako sa harap ni Ms. Vina? Never."

"Ang tawag doon, pakikisama. Hindi ka naman magiging peke eh," she continued, stressing the importance of knowing how to adjust in different situations.
While she was visibly angry at the time, social media users found Toni's way of calling out Mikay's attitude hilarious and exaggerated, birthing memes and other takes on the trending line.

P-pop boy group ALAMAT took the trend to the next level when they gave their own twists to it in different dialects. Jao opted for a Kapampangan version, Tomas in Bicolano, R-Ji in Waray, Mo in Tagalog, Alas in Bisaya, and Taneo in Ilocano.

Davao Conyo also used it in one of his skits, but instead of a fine dining restaurant, his version was in a samgyupsal restaurant. Host-comedian Vice Ganda, meanwhile, used it as a reference during the Sexy Babe segment of the noontime show It's Showtime.
Drag queen Marina Summers, who starred as Glinda in the adult panto of Wizard of Oz in the UK, also did the trend with a Gloria Arroyo impression during her live broadcast on Instagram.
Doc Yappy himself used the viral sound when he gave a look at his dinner during their family's Chinese New Year celebration on TikTok.
The iconic line has even reached foreign audiences: A TikTok user shared a Russian version of it, another one in Japanese, as well as French.
