MMDA airs concern over traffic around La Salle GH caused by student service cars along Ortigas Ave.
The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority has raised concern anew over traffic around La Salle Green Hills (LSGH), particularly along Ortigas Avenue.
In its letter addressed to the president of LSGH, the MMDA said that the congestion is caused by student service vehicles.
"Despite prior communication, MMDA's No Contact Apprehension Policy recorded [an] additional 938 violations in this area from July 18 to Aug. 14," it said, adding that it logged 403 violations from July 11 to 17.
Some of the traffic offenses committed include illegal parking, obstruction, and unauthorized loading and unloading, most of which "occur during peak hours," according to the agency.
"These violations directly contribute to severe traffic congestion, compromising not only the efficient flow of vehicles but also public safety and commuter welfare along this major thoroughfare," the MMDA said.
The MMDA also urged the LSGH administration to implement stricter internal traffic management measures and encouraged closer coordination with the agency for joint traffic management strategies.
LSGH is located at 343 Ortigas Ave., Mandaluyong City.
According to the school's traffic guidelines, parking is strictly prohibited along the eastbound and westbound sides of Ortigas Ave. Drop-offs are also limited to 10 to 12 seconds at designated loading and unloading areas.
NCAP was reimplemented on May 26 along major roads like Ortigas Ave., EDSA, Commonwealth Ave., Quezon Ave., Araneta Ave., C.P. Garcia, Katipunan Ave., Tandang Sora, Roxas Blvd., and more.
In May, the MMDA revealed that some of the top traffic violations are illegal turning, unattended illegal parking, disregarding traffic signs, Unified Vehicle Volume Reduction Program or number coding, attended illegal parking, dress code for motorcycle riders, obstruction, failure to give proper signal, and stalled vehicle.
Other common violations include failure to carry/show/surrender driver's license, failure to use seatbelt, loading/unloading in prohibited zone, driving in slippers, defective motor vehicle accessories, no crash helmet, reckless driving, tricycle ban, truck lane, and storage fee.
