South Korean actor Song Young Kyu passes away

Korean actor Song Young Kyu, who is known for his roles in Extreme Job and Partners for Justice, has passed away. He was 55.

Police confirmed that Song died on Monday, Aug. 4, according to Korean media outlets, including Soompi and The Korea Times.

An acquaintance reportedly found Song's body inside his car parked in a residential complex in Yongin at around 8 a.m. (Korean time) and reported it to the authorities.

The cause of his death is not yet determined, but police said that there were no signs of foul play and no note was found at the scene. They are also currently investigating his death, including questioning his family, and are considering whether to conduct an autopsy.

He is survived by his wife and two daughters. 

In June, Song was arrested for driving under the influence in Yongin. Following the incident, he stepped down from his role in the play Shakespeare in Love. The production team behind the TV series, The Defects and The Winning Try, had also announced that they would edit out his scenes.

Song is known for his roles in the action comedy film Extreme Job, as well as on TV series Tail Of The Nine-Tailed, Partners for Justice, Hyena, Narco-Saints, and Big Bet

The actor debuted in show business in 1994 and starred in several movies and shows, including Land of Happiness, Big Bet, Undercover, The Recon, and Narco-Saints, among others.
