Jung So Min and Jung Hae In, two of South Korea's biggest stars, will join forces in a new romantic comedy-drama, Mom's Friend's Son.

According to the Korean entertainment website Soompi, Mom's Friend's Son will be directed by Yoo Je Won and writer Shin Ha Eun, the makers of the 2021 hit K-drama Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha starring Kim Seon Ho and Shin Min-a.

The story follows the journey of a woman named Bae Seok Ryu (Jung So Min) who tries to restart her troubled life as she makes her way to be the project manager of a major global firm. Her mom’s friend’s son Choi Seung Hyo, a notable young and handsome architect, is marked as the "dark chapter in Bae Seok Ryu’s life." As they reunite, a new relationship is about to unfold.

In a statement, So Min said she was honored to have a role she could relate to.

"It's an honor to meet a project that I relate to and makes my heart feel warm. I'm looking forward to it even more because I enjoyed watching the writer's [other] projects. As my second project with the director is based on trust, I will greet viewers with a good performance," the Korean actress said.

Last Dec. 13, Hae In was confirmed to star in the said tvN's new drama. This marks the actor's first-ever romantic-comedy genre drama since his debut.

The South Korean actor also recently starred in Netflix's series D.P. and made waves in other K-drama series, including Snowdrop with BLACKPINK's Jisoo, Something in the Rain with Son Ye-Jin and Connect with Go Kyung-Pyo and Kim Hye-jun.

Meanwhile, the drama will mark So Min's small screen comeback following her hit 2022 fantasy drama, Alchemy of Souls, with actor Lee Jae-wook. She also recently starred in the romantic-comedy film Love Reset with Kang Ha-neul in 2023.

Mom's Friend's Son will premiere in the second half of 2024.
