'Bridgerton' star Simone Ashley is joining the cast of 'The Devil Wears Prada 2'
Bridgerton star Simone Ashley will be part of the world of Runway magazine.
Entertainment outlet Deadline reported that the actress has joined the cast of The Devil Wears Prada 2, which was earlier confirmed to be officially in production.
20th Century Studios announced on July 1 that the sequel was underway with Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci reprising their roles as Miranda Priestly, Andy Sachs, Emily, and Nigel, respectively. Oscar winner Kenneth Branagh was also reported to be on board as Miranda's husband.
The sequel is said to center on "devil" Miranda as she continues her career amid the decline of traditional magazine publishing. She will face off against Blunt's character, who is now a "high-powered executive for a luxury group with advertising dollars that Priestly desperately needs."
Meanwhile, Variety in an exclusive revealed that Lucy Liu (Charlie's Angels), Justin Theroux (Beetlejuice Beetlejuice), B.J Novak (The Office writer), and Pauline Chalamet (The Sex Lives of College Girls) are joining the cast as well.
The 2006 film, based on the novel of the same name by Lauren Weisberger, was known to have been inspired by the author's time working for Vogue and its editor-in-chief, Anna Wintour, who recently stepped down from her post after nearly four decades.
It followed a recent college journalism graduate Andy, who was hired as an assistant for Miranda, a job that "a million girls would kill for." While she initially struggles with her boss' impossible demands, she soon finds herself sucked into the world of high fashion and the "Runway" philosophy.
David Frankel and Aline Brosh McKenna, who directed and wrote the original film, are returning for the sequel.
The sequel is set to hit theaters on May 1, 2026.
Ashley is best known for starring in Bridgerton as Kathani "Kate" Bridgerton. Her credits also include Sex Education, The Little Mermaid, and Detective Pikachu.
