Glaiza de Castro has joined the cast of Bar Boys: After School.

The film's Facebook page announced the casting on May 26, posting a photo of the actress holding a guitar.

De Castro last worked with Bar Boys director Kip Oebanda for the 2018 film Liway, which won her Best Actress recognitions from the GEMS Awards, Luna Awards, and Platinum Stallion Media Awards.

Film and theater actor Bendix Ramos, who played Erik Vicencio in Bar Boys: A New Musical, will also join the upcoming film's cast.

Oebanda confirmed that a sequel to Bar Boys was in the works in October 2024.

"It feels like I have to finish what I started... It is a barkada film. I am writing it with close friends, 'di lang ako," he told ABS-CBN News at the time.

In a post on March 2, Oebanda shared a brief summary of the sequel, adding that there will be new students and that the main characters aren't all "boys."

"A law school barkada's [10th]-year reunion becomes bittersweet when they find out that one of their beloved mentors is deathly ill, all alone, and abandoned by the family. They take the place of the said family. In return, they learn lessons that only life and the passage of time can teach—about integrity, self-improvement, and finding meaning in what you do," it read.

Bar Boys, released in 2017, starred Rocco Nacino, Carlo Aquino, Enzo Pineda, and Kean Cipriano as a group of friends who aspire to be lawyers. A musical version hit the stage in 2024.

Meanwhile, De Castro is known for starring in The Rich Man's Daughter, Encantadia, Still Life, and Midnight in a Perfect World.
