Bela Padilla says she's now single
Bela Padilla confirmed she's single after her almost five-year relationship with Norman Bay.
The actress opened up about her breakup with her Swiss-Italian partner, saying it was a mutual decision.
"No, it’s not sad. Okay naman kami," she told entertainment portal PEP.ph during the media conference for her upcoming film, 100 Awit Para Kay Stella, on Aug. 6.
“Definitely one of the biggest factors was me, moving back," she shared, referring to her decision to return to the Philippines to make a full-time acting comeback. She moved to London in 2021.
“Hindi rin kasi kami magkasama. Nasa London ako, nasa Switzerland siya. So, parang nahirapan na rin ako. The distance is shorter, it’s still a long distance," she added.
The 34-year-old actress said that they remain on good terms, sharing that Bay visited her last month.
“Dumadalaw pa sa shooting na 'to (100 Awit Para Kay Stella). Nandito pa siya sa Pilipinas noon at napasyal niya na 'yung buong Pampanga," she said, adding that they were no longer together at the time.
When asked if she's open to dating again, Padilla said that she can try seeing other people after the promotion of her film.
“Siguro after I finish promos first. Why not? I love falling in love. I don’t think there is anything wrong with putting yourself out there,” she said.
“Kaso 'di na ako marunong mag-date for 2025,” she quipped.
Before this, Bay had also greeted the actress during her birthday in May, sharing a carousel post of her photos.
Padilla and Bay first met in 2017 in Zurich, Switzerland, during the filming of the 2018 film Meet Me In St. Gallen. They became friends and maintained communication even when she had to return to the Philippines.
Padilla hard-launched her relationship with Bay in 2020.
